    • Definition: a person’s awareness of everything that is going on around him or her at any given moment, which is used to organize behavior.
    • Opposite of unconscious or semi-conscious!
    • Brings varied information to the surface, enabling us to reflect and plan.
    • Enables us to exert voluntary control and to communicate our mental states to others.
    • Focuses our concentration.
    • There is much more to information processing that consciousness.
    • Much of what we process is outside our awareness.
    • Beneath the surface, unconscious information processing occurs simultaneously on many tracks. (Note parallel processing.)
    • It lags behind the brain events that evoke it.
      • You consciously experience the decision to move about .2 seconds before you actually move.
      • But your brain waves jump about .35 seconds ahead of your conscious perception of the decision.
    • Unconscious brain activity precedes conscious awareness of a simple decision preceding an action.
    • Brain wave activity jumps just 1/3 second before the person consciously decides to move.
    • 2. Consciousness is relatively slow (compared to the unconscious) and has limited capacity.
    • 3. Is serial in nature. We can only think one thing at a time.
    • 4. Consciousness is skilled at solving novel tasks requiring focused attention.
    • Is relatively fast and can run simultaneously on multiple tracks. Parallel processing.
    • We can perform familiar tasks automatically.
    • Biological Rhythms
      • Annual cycles
      • 28 day cycles
      • 7 day cycles?
      • 24 hour cycles
      • 90 minute cycles
    • Regular body rhythms that occur on a 24-hour cycle.
      • Body temperature
      • Alertness/thinking
      • Energy
    • Ultimately controlled by the hypothalamus
It takes about 489 seconds for a beam of light to reach the earth.
The speed of light is  +- 299 792 458 meters per second and the distance between earth and sun +- is 149 597 870 691 meters.
So it's simple, just a rule of three, if light takes 1 second to travel 299 792 458 meters how much time will it take to travel 149 597 870 691 meters?
149 597 870 691/ 299 792 458= 499 seconds, about 8.32 second.
So take your time.
 Four new and one original.
They are placed atop the fence poles that are left after we discarded the remains of the actual sheep fence.
The iron poles are by necessity topped with cut pieces of thick wood.
The old one has begun to deteriorate.
Four are cut from driftwood found by Seglodden.
Geocode for Seglodden, Norway: Latitude: 70.466667 / Longitude: 30.74472
Each silver glass Buddha is kept in place by four iron nails that are driven into the wooden top.
The heads are placed on the nails and are free to swivel.
... A group of Buddhas and other figures carved on rocks can be seen between Mt Komaga-take and Mt Kami Futago. These carvings date back to the Kamakura era (1192-1333). They still look excellent despite harsh natural elements, such as wind, rain, or snow. The Niju-go Bosatsu, a rock carved with numerous Buddha figures, is located on one side of the road.

well this is a photo from a great aunt who lived in Japan years ago, and my grandmother had it on her bedroom wall. It is of the Tokaido Road, a main route many years ago. "Chrytomeria Avenue at Hakone"
